REVIEW : Cats In Space --- Scarecrow (2017)

A couple of years back, I had the privilege to review a damn fine debut from a band with a very strange name; Cats In Space with their first opus, "Too Many Gods", achieved to deliver a fine sample of pure late 70's, early 80's, melodic rock stuff that included lots of groove, some very good performances and a bunch of some killer tunes in it.

Nowadays, the band is back with their brand new record which is entitled "Scarecrow".

Cats In Space continue to deliver excellent melodic rock stuff with the same vain as they did in their debut. I have the feeling that in "Scarecrow" they take things a step higher regarding their great debut. For example, by listening to the album's opening tune "Jupiter Calling" I got the picture that Cats In Space are ready for big things. With the next couple of songs, "Mad Hatter's Tea Party" & "Clown In Your Nightmare", I was damn positive that this is gonna be a killer record. Especially "Clown In Your Nightmare" is simply breathtaking. The Queen-ish pinches along with the big groove that are included make this song a blast!

"September Rain" is yet another very interesting tune. An up-tempo, feel-good track that put a smile upon my face. The theatrical "Two Minutes 59" is filled-up with awesomeness and "Timebomb" is one of my personal favorites here.

Cats In Space loves 70's and they show it in every single minute here. For damn sure Cats In Space is a band that knows how to create good music, no doubt 'bout that! "Scarecrow" is like a music roller coaster ride that travels you through time and at the end leaves a sweet taste in your ears.

Rating : 9,5/10
