REVIEW : JORN -- Life on Death Road (2017)

JORN is without any doubt one of the best hard rock/metal voices out there. His DIO, Coverdale-esque voice along with a more harder edged tone makes Jorn Lande one of the most characteristic shouters in the metal world in general.

Nowadays, this so charismatic singer is back in full-force with a brand new opus with the title "Life On Death Road" and he is ready, once again, to rock our world. With a new, and strong, line-up on board "Life On Death Road" is an album that can't be missed by anyone who loves this music.

The new line-up consists of Mat Sinner (Primal Fear, Sinner, Kiske/Somerville) on bass, the mighty Alessandro Del Vecchio (Hardline, Revolution Saints) on keys, Francesco Iovino (Primal Fear) on drums and Alex Beyrodt (Primal Fear, Voodoo Circle) handles the guitars. Pretty impressive line-up, don't you think?

The new record kicks-off with the simply amazing hard rock gem of "Life On Death Road". A very 80's tune with a killer chorus, some really brilliant guitar licks by Beyrodt and most of all with Jorn's powerful vocal lines. "Hammered To The Cross" rocks good enough with its edgier Whitesnake-ish vibe in it while in "Love Is The Remedy" is a solid and punchier rocker. "Dreamwalker" is a nice power ballad that includes strong arrangements, 'darker' vocals and a moodier vibe in it. It is time for some heavier and groovier metal stuff; "Insoluble Maze (Dreams In The Blindness)" is by far one of the best songs here! "I Walked Away" is yet another interesting moment. It's a damn fine bluesy heavy rock song that Jorn's voice suits perfectly!

I love Jorn's voice and I own all his records but I have, also, to admit that "Life On Death Road" is by far Jorn's most mature record to-date! This new opus has it all; more passion, more heart and soul, more great performances and of course an amazing line-up of musicians that rockets up the whole project to a higher level!!! Well done!!
