REVIEW : Hartmann / Shadows & Silhouettes (2016)

The very talented singer and guitarist Oliver Hartmann is back with a brand new opus with the title "Shadows And Silhouettes". This, new one, is the fifth already record and it's gonna be released on 30th of September on the artist owned label SONIC11 in cooperation with Pride & Joy Music.

The album, that has been co-produced again by Sascha Paeth (Avantasia, Edguy, Kamelot, Beyond The Black, etc.), features some guest musicians such as the well-known session keyboarder Jimmy Kresic (Rock Meets Classic, The Roots, Soundtopia), Miro Rodenberg (Avantasia) and also the Prague cellist Irena Morisáková and violinist Adéla Pecková.

As in the previous albums the same here, Hartmann continues to deliver his well-crafted melodic rock stuff with beautiful melodies, memorable choruses and a modern melodic rock sound that will please all the band's earlier fans but also every fan of the 'softer' melodic rock scene.

The opening tune of "Irresistible" is a nice melodic rock song that includes a catchy chorus line, solid arrangements and Hartmann's very good vocal lines. The Celtic elements are givin' the extra flavor to the final result, just like the cherry on top!!! "High On You" continues with more edge while in "When Your Mama Was A Hippie" we are dealing with an excellent acoustic rock song!!! This song will also be released as video clip. In the same acoustic, mid-tempo mood we have the amazing "Jaded Heart", "Still The Same" and "The Letting Go" which are all show the emotional side of Hartmann.

"Shadows And Silhouettes" is a very enjoyable record from start to finish. A more laid-back album that includes some excellent moments in it that will be appreciated by any fan of the rock scene in general.
