REVIEW : IRON SAVIOR / Titancraft (2016)

German melodic power metal titans IRON SAVIOR are back with their ninth official album which is entitled "Titancraft". I really enjoyed a lot the band's latest effort, "Rise Of The Hero". That was a solid release that included powerful performances, epic choruses and great arrangements. "Rise Of The Hero" was, also, the band's biggest chart success!!

The history of this solid German act is well-known to the metal fans. IRON SAVIOR began in 1996 when the band was founded by Piet Sielck, Kai Hansen (Gamma Ray) and Thomen Stauch (Blind Guardian), at first only to be a studio project. The sound was a mix between the classic NWOBHM scene with strong emphasis on big melodies, epic arrangements and the charismatic rough voice of Sielck.

The new record, "Titancraft" is movin' to the same and 'safe' paths of the band's previous recordings with a more updated, fresh and more melodic sound that makes it a 'titan' release all the way. After the intense intro of "Under Siege" comes the real thing; a sharp guitar riff, Sielck's characteristic vocals, bombastic drums and a Helloween-esque vibe compose the opening tune of "Titancraft". "Way Of The Blade" is faster, more aggressive and includes a punchy chorus line! "Gunsmoke" is pure melodic heavy rock delight!!! This is a more straight forward melodic hard rock stuff with a commercial vibe in it that is build-up for big arenas!! The solo here is breathtaking! Next, "Beyond The Horizon" is yet another killer track. Epic arrangements, in-your-face performances, blistering guitars and a superb epic melody are the ingredients of this amazing song! The Accept-ish "The Sun Won't Rise In Hell" features a bad-ass groove in it while in "I Surrender" Iron Savior delivers a truly good metal ballad.

"Titancraft" is a true metal album all the way! Iron Savior delivers one of their best records to date, period! It's heavy, melodic, bombastic, powerful with a solid production and generally includes all the things to become a classic in this scene!!!
