REVIEW : AFFÄIRE / “At First Sight” (2015)

Affaire is a band that stays true to the roots of the straight forward Rock'n' Roll of the late 80's, early 90's. The music here is pure ass-kickin' sleaze hard rock with attitude. Loud guitars, bad-ass vocals and a Motley Crue vibe are the ingredients of Affaire's debut album "At First Sight"

Years of gigs and hard work within the Portuguese rock and metal scene, AFFÄIRE released their debut single “Born Too Late” in 2011 and the following years and, after their participation on shows as support act for Paul Di Anno (UK) and House Of Lords (USA), they released another single "Highway Affair".

This debut record, "At First Sight", was recorded in Lisbon’s Pentagon AM studios and was mastered at “The Groove Room” in San Rafael, California, a studio run by Davy Vain, who oversaw the whole analog mastering process.

The album kicks-off with the powerful and in-your-face "Devil's Cross". A song that recalls to bands such as Motley Crue, Poison and Vain. "Cash 4 Flesh" is a killer commercial pop-metal anthem that includes a catchy chorus, a nice riff and solo and the necessary sleaze lyrics. "Busted" is heavier with a nice groove while in "No Room For Romance" the band mixes some bluesier elements and the result is pure candy in my ears. In "Roadkill", one of my personal favorites here,  the pedal is on the metal !!!! Yep, these guys sure know how to write an ass-kickin' heavy rock song with attitude!!!

Bottom line is that AFFAIRE with this debut album achieve to create a solid record all the way which is grafted with lots of attitude!! If you are a fan of the Sunset Strip L.A. scene, then check out "At First Sight". Recommended!
