Widely regarded as one of the best European Progressive Metal bands, DGM are about to release their eight studio album, following the critically acclaimed ‘Synthesis’, in 2010, and hundreds of shows that brought their music to audiences all around the world, including a successful tour with American progressive giants Symphony X in 2011.
To add an extra flavor to an already astonishing album, DGM have tapped legendary singer Russell Allen (Symphony X, Adrenaline Mob) to guest on the opening track ‘Reason’, and Norwegian guitar virtuoso Jorn Viggo Lofstad (Pagan’s Mind) to contribute with a solo on the track ‘Chaos’. ‘Momentum’ was recorded, mixed and mastered by the band’s own guitarist and celebrated producer Simone Mularoni at Domination Studios in San Marino, Italy.
The opening track that features Mr. Allen, is a 'pedal to the metal' rocker that fits perfectly to Allen's voice. A really impressive start!! "Trust" is another excellent example of what this band is capable of doin' when it comes to deliver some inspired heavy progressive, and, of course, high-skilled tune with a stunning melody!! I, also, have to say that the guitar work here is simply breathtaking!!!! "Universe" and "Numb" are both great tunes that show the abilities of this band to write some powerful metal songs!! "Chaos", features Viggo Lofstad, is the ultimate highlight from this album. The guitar is stellar and this song could be a future classic for this band! "Overload" is another killer tune! Everything floats perfectly and the chorus line is catchy with a melody to die for!!
All in all, this is an extremely good and interesting release! I caught myself, during the listening, pushing the repeat button several times and enjoying every single minute of "Momentum". The musicianship is top notch and the songs are all well-written, well-performed and played with heart and soul!! I really didn't know anything about this band before this album and now I have to say that I'm hooked into their music!! For the fans of high-quality progressive metal, this is a must have, for the others do a favor to yourself and check this brilliant album out, you won't regret it!
